Clyde Miller P-8 Community:
I am writing to share an important update about the future of Clyde Miller P-8 and the transition to our new facility in the Horizon Uptown neighborhood. We understand how meaningful Clyde Miller is to so many of our families, and we want to reassure you that this transition will be handled with care and transparency.
First and foremost, please note that the move to the new Horizon P-8 campus will not happen until the 2026-27 school year. We will still have school at the current Clyde Miller P-8 building through the upcoming 2025-26 school year. Students will begin attending the new school starting in August 2026, so there is still plenty of time to prepare for the transition and stay informed.
As we’ve shared previously, our dedicated Clyde Miller staff will be moving to the new Horizon P-8 campus along with our students. Rest assured that you and your children will continue to see the same caring, familiar faces you know and trust.
To help you stay up-to-date throughout this process, we encourage you to regularly visit our school website at clydemiller.aurorak12.org. There, you will find important resources, including:
As we prepare for the upcoming transition, we will host a series of open house events in Fall 2025 designed to connect with and gather feedback from our school community. These sessions will offer students, families and staff meaningful opportunities to share their input on key topics, including:
-
The name, colors and mascot of the new school
-
Transportation and traffic considerations in the Horizon Uptown neighborhood
-
Ideas for the future use of the current Clyde Miller P-8 building
We understand that saying goodbye to Clyde Miller P-8 is a meaningful and emotional milestone. Our school’s deep roots and rich history will remain a vital part of who we are and we are committed to honoring that legacy throughout this transition. We look forward to hearing your ideas and working together to shape the exciting next chapter of our school community. We’ll share more information, including open house dates and times, as we get closer.
Additionally, for safety reasons, the new building will remain closed to students, families and staff until construction is fully complete. If this timeline changes, we will communicate any updates promptly and continue to keep you informed as progress is made. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support as we prepare for this exciting next chapter.
Warm regards,
Megan Ortiz-Capozzolo, Principal
