I hope you had a restful and enjoyable spring break. Believe it or not, we are now in the final quarter of the 2025-26 school year, and we have accomplished great things together.
As we begin to wrap up and prepare for our transition to Coal Creek P-8, I wanted to touch base with you on a few important topics to ensure everyone is informed about what the immediate future holds.
Construction Updates
Work at the new building has continued and is right on schedule. Both the structure and exterior walls are nearly done and the roof is about 80% complete. Our contractor is making progress on the interior of the building, while playground equipment installation is well underway outside. Below are a few photos showing the updates.
Colors
You may recall that we shared a quick survey with our community in February to help us choose school colors. Thank you to everyone who gave us feedback! The votes were unanimous — Coal Creek P-8’s colors will be gold and black.
First Day of School
APS released the conventional calendars our schools will use for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years. The first day of school next year for grades one through eight at Coal Creek P-8 will be Thursday, Aug. 6, and preschool and kindergarten students will begin on Monday, Aug. 10.
Coming Soon: Clyde Miller Community Celebrations
We are excited to partner with our community to help celebrate the legacy of Clyde Miller P-8 and what this school has meant to all of us. We will be hosting an event for staff members in April and students and families in May. Stay tuned for more information on both events.

For Clyde Miller Staff: Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment
The furniture committee and school leadership have been working hard to complete the Coal Creek P-8 furniture plan with APS’ Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) team. All furniture will be finalized and ordered by the end of March for delivery prior to teachers arriving next year. The PD&C team will also help plan the packing and clearing of the Clyde Miller building. This effort will begin to pick up steam in April and last through to the remainder of the school year.
